چکیده

Tomicus species (Coleoptera, Scolytidae) are important pests of pine forest in Eurasia (Schroeder, 1987; Bouhot et al., 1988; Hui, 1991), Europe (Langström, 1983; Schroeder, 1987; Bouhot et al., 1988; Hui, 1991; Guerrero et al., 1997; Dajoz, 2000) and Mediterranean regions (Triggiani & Santini, 1987; Monleón et al., 1996; Nanni & Tiberi, 1997). Three widespread species occur in the Iberian Peninsula (Gil & Pajares, 1986; Lombardero, 1994; Gallego & Galián, 2001). According to Wood & Bright (1992), T. piniperda has holarctic distribution, after their introduction in North Área de Biologı́a Animal, Departamento de Zoologı́a y Antropologı́a Fı́sica, Facultad de Veterinaria and Departamento de Ecologı́a e Hidrologı́a, Facultad de Biologı́a, Universidad de Murcia, Murcia, Spain

A EFFECTIVE ATTRACTION RADIUS: Method for Comparing Species Attractants Determining Densities of Flying Insects

-The catches of bark beetles (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) were compared between attractive traps releasing semiochemicals and passive traps (cylindrical sticky screens hung, at 10 heights of 0.7-11.5 m, on poles). A central attractive-trap pole was surrounded by three passive-trap poles spaced 50 or 100 m away at the apices of an equilateral triangle. The catches of Tomicus piniperda and other scol...

Tomicus piniperda (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) initial flight and shoot departure along a north-south gradient.

The exotic pine shoot beetle, Tomicus piniperda (L.) (Coleoptera: Scolytidae), established in the north central and northeastern United States (U.S.) and adjacent regions in Canada, is regulated by a federal quarantine that restricts movement of pine material during specific times of the year based on the beetle's life history. Although climatic variation occurs across T. piniperda's range, a s...

Quantitative association of bark beetles with pitch canker fungus and effects of verbenone on their semiochemical communication in Monterey pine forests in Northern Spain.

The association between 11 species of bark beetles (Coleoptera: Scolytinae) and one weevil (Coleoptera: Entiminae) with the pitch canker fungus, Fusarium circinatum Nirenberg and O'Donnell, was determined by crushing beetles on selective medium and histone H3 gene sequencing. Pityophthorus pubescens (Marsham) (25.00%), Hylurgops palliatus (Gyllenhal) (11.96%), Ips sexdentatus (Börner) (8.57%), ...
